Our vision supports an active city centre with a mix of new spaces to enhance people’s lives. Market Place will become a bustling hub throughout the day and night.
We have some ideas on changes aiming to bring significant and consistent footfall, which will support the other businesses on Market Place extending to Iron Gate, Sadler Gate and the Cathedral Quarter.
Our vision includes exciting new buildings, built to the highest standards of design, sustainability and functionality. Invigorated urban squares and meeting places connected by ‘green corridors’ with planting and greenery, will enhance the daily lives of those who live and work there.
These emerging ideas complement potential wider improvements to the area, which could include a new hotel, offices and other similar uses. Improvements to the wider area will transform this area of the city, improve connectivity and will act as a cataylst for further investment, through high quality new development. Further consultation on this element of the wider plans will take place later this year, before a planning application is submitted.
